ABOUT

Who is the author?

Hi there!

I am Kalekye Kasina Njuguna, an accomplished journalist recognized for my contributions within mainstream media and collaborative endeavors with NGOs on various projects. As an Independent Journalist, Communication Specialist, Producer, Editor, and Health Digital Content Creator, my professional repertoire spans a spectrum of roles. Alongside these pursuits, I am a devoted wife and mother of three, driven by a mission to shed light on pertinent health issues afflicting Kenyan society and beyond. While I do not hold a background in healthcare or medicine, my fervor lies in fostering awareness surrounding healthy lifestyles.

Educational Background and Career Trajectory

In 2012, I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communications (with a specialization in Development Communications) from the esteemed University of Nairobi. Presently, I am furthering my academic pursuits through a master's program in International Relations at the same institution. My professional journey commenced at the Kenya Women Workers Organization, an NGO dedicated to advocating for human and labor rights. Initially serving as an Administrative Assistant, I progressively transitioned into the role of Communication Specialist, amplifying the organization's messaging and impact. A natural storyteller at heart, my affinity for narrative-driven communication led me to a main stream media house, where I assumed the roles of a senior health news TV reporter and producer for an acclaimed segment "Health Matters" within the 9 PM Sunday news broadcast.
