Flint

The film Flint is based on the story of several women activists in Michigan who rally to expose their city's water crisis to a national level. They do so by pushing for change in local government response to presence of lead and dirt in tap water.

The cast in the film suffer the effects of this poisonous water and they decide to take action. LeeAnne Walters (Brandt) does it for her children after being horrified by the skin rashes and mood swings displayed by her son. Melissa Mays (Ireland) does it for her family and the seizure-inducing side effects she’s experiencing herself. Iza Banks (Latifah) does it for her daughter, whose lost pregnancy shows that this could be something to affect future generations, not just the current one.

The film is based on real life events of Flint a city of nearly 100,000 whose water was tainted with lead for around 18 months, starting in spring 2014. While a new pipeline is being built to Lake Huron, the financial management of Flint at that time decided to tap the Flint River as its water source. But due to city officials concern of 'financial constraints', the river water wasn’t treated to reduce corrosion. As a result, old pipes and fixtures led to leaking of lead into drinking water.
